JAMB Promises to Reschedule Exams for Candidates Affected by Technical Glitches

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has assured candidates who experience technical difficulties during the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) that they will be rescheduled.

Professor Is-haq Oloyede, JAMB Registrar, made this announcement while monitoring the exam in Kogi-Bwari, Abuja. He reported that the UTME had been smooth so far, with only one center encountering issues on the first day.

Out of the 1,985,642 registered candidates, a small percentage may face disruptions at their testing centers. Oloyede expects this number to be around 10% due to varying technological infrastructure across the country.

“We appeal to the public to understand this,” Oloyede said. “Some centres will fail.” He urged affected candidates to stay calm as JAMB will reschedule their exams.

The rescheduling process involves contacting JAMB headquarters and finding a suitable time slot. This could be later in the same day after other sessions have concluded or even the following day.

While JAMB anticipates a smooth examination thanks to new security measures, Oloyede highlighted the importance of following proper procedures in case of technical glitches. He advised candidates not to disrupt the exam and to allow JAMB to intervene.

The news article also mentions positive experiences at centers like Airmax Computer Institute in Madalla, Niger State, which completed its second session smoothly.

Oloyede expressed satisfaction with the overall conduct of the exam and praised parents for cooperating with JAMB’s guidelines. He emphasized the importance of a holistic admissions process that considers factors beyond UTME scores.
