The coordination of examiners and marking of candidates’ scripts occurred at seven marking venues in Lagos, Ibadan, Akure, Benin, Enugu, Uyo, and Kaduna from January 16 to January 30, 2024. A total of 4,162 examiners were involved in the marking exercise.

Among the candidates, 211 with varying degrees of special needs were registered for the examination. This inclusive approach ensured that candidates with visual challenges, impaired hearing, and albinism were adequately accommodated in the examination process.

Out of the 80,904 candidates who sat for the examination, 39,790 were males, while 41,114 were females, representing 49.18% and 50.82%, respectively. Of these, 96.93% had their results fully processed and released, while 3.07% have a few subjects still under processing due to errors traceable to them. Efforts are underway to expedite the processing to ensure timely release for all affected candidates.

In terms of performance, 57.19% of candidates obtained credit and above in a minimum of five subjects (with or without English Language and/or Mathematics), while 44.29% obtained credit and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. Notably, there is a 2.13% increase in this category compared to the 2022 entry.

Results for 7,192 candidates (8.89% of the total) are currently withheld due to reported cases of examination malpractice. Investigations are ongoing, and the outcomes will be presented to the appropriate Council committee for consideration.

Candidates can check their results on the official WAEC website www.waecdirect.org before accessing digital copies of their certificates at www.waec.org. The WAEC Certificate Request Portal (e-Certman) website https://certrequest.waec.ng/ allows candidates to apply for the printing of hard copies of their certificates online.

The WAEC-Nigeria expresses gratitude to all stakeholders, including the government, security agencies, ministries of education, staff, supervisors, invigilators, custodians, examiners, and ad-hoc personnel for their dedication in ensuring the successful conduct and marking of the examination.

Moyosola F. Adesina, Acting Head of Public Affairs, signed the official statement on behalf of the Head of National Office. The results were issued by the Public Affairs Department on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. WAEC-Nigeria congratulates all successful candidates and wishes them the best in their future endeavors.
