The Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has officially opened the registration process for the 2024/2025 Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) Direct Entry (DE) candidates. The registration process has been structured in a step-by-step manner to ensure clarity and ease for prospective candidates. The key dates for the Direct Entry registration are as follows:
- Start of DE Application and E-PIN Vending: Wednesday, February 28, 2024
- Closing Date: Thursday, March 28, 2024
Important Points to Note Before Applying
Before diving into the registration process, candidates must be aware of the following key points:
- Distinction Between DE and UTME: The JAMB Direct Entry form is distinct from the JAMB UTME form and is intended for candidates seeking admission into the first year of a university program.
- Registration at JAMB Offices Only: Registration for both UTME and DE can only be done at JAMB offices.
- Exclusive Registration: Candidates cannot apply for both JAMB DE and UTME in the same year.
- Online Application: The DE form is an online application available on the JAMB portal.
- Qualifications/Certificates: JAMB only recognizes and accepts twelve qualifications/certificates.
- Validity of Statement of Result: Statement of result is accepted for registration only within three years of the date of award.
- Upgrade from UTME to DE: Upgrade is available for candidates whose DE results are pending at the point of UTME registration or for those awaiting A-level results.
- Registration Fee: The DE registration fee for the 2024/2025 session is N3,500. Additional charges include N700 for CBT Centre registration service, N1,500 for CBT Centre service charge for mock/UTME, and N500 for bank charges/commission. The total cost is N6,200 for candidates not taking the MOCK examination and N7,700 for those taking the MOCK examination.
- National Identification Number (NIN): A National Identification Number is mandatory for registration.

- Online Payment: Use an ATM card or USSD code on the JAMB portal.
- POS Payment: Pay with POS at any accredited CBT or JAMB office.
Step-by-Step Registration Guide
1. Create Your JAMB Profile
- Text your NIN to 55019 or 66019 in the format: ‘NIN [space] your 11-digit NIN.’ For example, ‘NIN 00123456789.’
- Receive a confirmation code.
2. Log into the JAMB Portal
- Use the received code to log into the JAMB portal.
3. Obtain JAMB e-PIN
- Visit any accredited bank, CBT Centre, or embassy (for candidates in foreign countries) with your confirmation code.
- Pay the required fee to obtain the JAMB e-PIN.
4. Receive Confirmation Message
- After sending the NIN, receive a confirmation message with a 10-digit profile code, registered name with NIMC, and the total cost for UTME with or without MOCK and DE.
5. Procure Form
- Present the profile code at the point of form procurement (Banks, MMOs, MFBs, Switches, USSD Partners).
- The e-PIN is sent as a text message to you.
6. CBT Centre Registration
- Present the e-PIN at any JAMB accredited CBT centre for registration.

To Retrieve Lost Profile Code
- Send [RESEND] to 55019 or 66019 from the same registered cell phone number.
- The Profile Code will be retrieved and delivered to your registered cell phone number.
To Retrieve Lost e-PIN
- Send [UTMEPIN] or [DEPIN] to 55019 or 66019 for UTME or DE respectively from the registered cell phone number.
- The e-PIN will be retrieved and delivered to the candidate’s registered cell phone number.
