FCT senator buys 2,000 JAMB forms for indigent students

In a remarkable display of commitment to education, Senator Ireti Kingibe, the representative of the Federal Capital Territory, has generously provided 2,000 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms for financially constrained students preparing for the 2024 examination.

The announcement was made public in a statement released on Sunday by Senator Kingibe’s Special Assistant on Media, Mbele Kennedy, underscoring the senator’s dedication to ensuring that every deserving student has an equal opportunity to pursue higher education.

This philanthropic initiative comes at a critical time, precisely two months after the JAMB examination body raised the registration fee for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to N7,700. The move had sparked concerns about access to education for economically disadvantaged students.

The JAMB examination, scheduled to take place from April 24 to 29, 2024, is a crucial milestone for countless young minds aspiring to further their education.

Senator Kingibe’s gesture, reflected in the statement, emphasizes inclusivity and equality. The senator expressed her desire for the free forms to be accessible to students from diverse backgrounds, regardless of tribe, religion, or political affiliation. In doing so, she aims to alleviate the financial burden on students, fostering an environment where merit, rather than financial status, determines access to education.

The statement read, “The free forms are meant for students who cannot afford them, irrespective of their tribe, religion, party affiliation among others. Senator Kingibe urges potential beneficiaries to study hard and ensure good conduct not just in the examination hall but also when admitted into the university. She also wishes beneficiaries and indeed, all candidates for the 2024 JAMB examination success.”

Senator Ireti Kingibe has further pledged ongoing support for education through her Impact Development Programmes, a commitment aimed at making a lasting positive impact on her constituency in Abuja. This move underscores the senator’s recognition of education as a catalyst for societal development and the empowerment of future leaders.

As students gear up for the 2024 JAMB examination, Senator Ireti Kingibe’s benevolent act stands as a beacon of hope, inspiring academic excellence and providing an opportunity for a brighter future for many deserving young individuals.
